With $24, you can provide protection, maintenance and annual taxes for 3 acres of Eastern Arc rainforest.

Why this campaign?

  • African Rainforest Conservancy (ARC) has a proven track record protecting the trees in one of the most important bio-diverse habitats in Africa.
  • This organization also supports community education, efficient cook stoves and income generating activities in the region.
  • Preventing deforestation alleviates overall impact of climate change

Why this project?

Conservation International has named Eastern Arc Mountains to its list of "Top 20 Biodiversity HotSpots". These forests are home to 114 vertebrate species found nowhere else on Earth, as well as 1,500 unique tree and plant species. Many have medicinal herbs that have the potential to fight AIDS, cancer, and trachoma. The Eastern Arc Mountains are also home to over 1.5 million people that depend on the rainforest for survival.

By lending a hand in preventing deforestation we are helping to prevent climate change as well.

The Impact

ARC supported villages have planted over 8 million trees (over 100,000 trees each month) to restore these irreplaceable forests and supply themselves with fuel wood and timber. Your gift will help local people to patrol their forests, reduce poverty by providing alternative income development. This effort also aids to discourage dependence of livelihood practices that threaten the future of the forests, helps to fight forest fires, illegal logging, and charcoal production. The mitigation global climate change and offset your carbon footprint are also a benefit.

About African Rainforest Conservancy

ARC promotes the conservation and restoration of African rainforests. Some of the oldest and most bio diverse in the world - by empowering this community to preserve their natural heritage for all present and future generations. Since 1990, the African Rainforest Conservancy (ARC) has been at the vanguard of grass roots conservation - protecting the trees still standing in one of the most important habitats in the world.
