You can help improve literacy rates and empower future leaders in India by sponsoring a child's school expenses in one of five schools or a junior college in Andhra Pradesh State. Your donation will help provide students with textbooks, uniforms, mid-day meals and a well-rounded education.

Why we picked this campaign?

1. Organization is volunteer led in the US so your donations can reach those in need in India.

2. Organization focuses on educating those most in need, girls and rural children in India.

3. IRDF takes a holistic approach to a child's development by focusing on critical thinking and understanding concepts rather than the traditional method of memorization.

Why this project is needed?

India currently has the largest illiterate population of any country with a literacy rate of about 65%. Moreover, literacy rates are disproportionately lower for females than males and among rural children. Many rural children in Andhra Pradesh state are currently receiving an extremely poor quality education or no education at all. IRDF is working diligently to alleviate this problem by funding schools that provide a well-rounded education for those who otherwise might not have access to an education.

The Impact

Your gift will help cover the costs of textbooks, the costs of mid-day meals, the cost of uniforms and help educate underprivileged children in India. Donors who fund the full $75 will receive information about the student along with a photo.

About India Rural Development Fund

The India Rural Development Fund (IRDF) is the U.S. sister organization that provides funding to RDF, a non-profit organization that fully operates five schools and one junior college in Andhra Pradesh State, India. Their vision is to make a lifelong difference in the lives of rural underprivileged children through education and give them the hope and the opportunity to break their vicious bonds with poverty and ignorance. Since 1996, RDF has taken a unique, holistic approach to a child's development and worked to go beyond traditional textbook education by focusing on critical thinking and understanding concepts rather than the traditional method of rote memorization. By stressing the characteristics of "punctuality, honesty, and transparency", RDF also strives to develop students who will become empowered leaders of their communities; thus working towards its vision to see a transformed and prosperous rural India. 100% of your IRDF donation will go to RDF.
