Provide Scholarships for Kids in Bangladesh

Why we picked this campaign?

1. Organization selects primarily vulnerable children that have high potential to do well in school for scholarships. 

2. Education is such a powerful tool to fight poverty. 

3. Scholarships include health check-ups, tuition, and school supplies needed to achieve success and support of income generating activities for student's families. 

Why is this project needed? 

Currently 36% of the people in Bangladesh live below the poverty line, and 50% of these people are either children or teens. To make ends meet, instead of going to school, over 6 million children 5-15 years of age in Bangladesh are forced to work, often enduring extremely dangerous working conditions. In fact, out of the 80% of children who enroll in primary education, 35% drop out. The focus of the Sun Child Sponsorship (SCS) program is to provide these children with the opportunity for education. Since each child's education is largely influenced by his or her environment, the SCS program involves a well-rounded commitment to improving the chances of a child's education by helping not only the child but also the child's family and community. Specifically, the SCS program provides the child with education cost, school supplies and healthcare, helps the child's family to develop income generating activities.  

Impact

Currently 1500 children are being sponsored by the program and 276 families being supporting in income generating activities.  You gift will help support a scholarship for one student as well as the other community activities of the program.
